Wenn ich im Terminkalender einen Termin neu eintrage oder bearbeite erschnt ein Bearbeitungsfenster. Darin sind alle Eintragungen weiß auf schwarzem Hintergrund (OK).

Nur im Teilbereich "Beschreibung" erscheint seit einigen Wochen der Text schwarz auf schwarzem Hintergrund und ist daher nicht lesbar. Erst wenn dieser Text markiert wird, erscheint er gut lesbar weiß auf blauem Hintergrund.

Wie kann ich die Schriftfarbe hier wieder zu weiß auf schwarzem Hintergrund ändern?

Since yesterday , Thursday 29th October. Thunderbird has only been displaying the "Inbox" for my account, no emails are visible in it and all of the directories including the deleted emails directory and spam directory are absent. I have Windows 11 installed. I am using the IMAP server for incoming email and have checked that all the settings are correct. My account displays no incoming emails but can send emails. The directories are still absent when running Trouble shooter and the inbox is still empty. In the Account Settings - Server Settings I tested connection to the server and it said secure connection made - this worked for both outgoing and incoming servers. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Thunderbird but the issue persists. Although I do not change any settings the full set of directories will occasionally appear along with some emails and then seconds later disappear again. My email account is working fine on my phone and tablet using gmail.

• • Subject: Severe recurring UI freezes after upgrading Thunderbird from v114 to v150+ — application becomes unresponsive after being left idle**

Hello Thunderbird Support Team,

I'm experiencing a serious and persistent performance issue with Thunderbird that began immediately after upgrading from version 114 to version 150 in September 2026. The problem has continued through multiple subsequent updates and is now severely affecting my daily work.

I've been using Thunderbird for years, and it worked reliably before this major upgrade.

• • The problem**

Thunderbird launches normally and initially works perfectly. However, after I leave it open in the background while working in other applications, it frequently becomes completely unresponsive when I return to it.

Specifically: - Thunderbird is initially fast and responsive after launching. - After approximately 5–10 minutes, or sometimes after a longer period of inactivity, it begins experiencing severe lag or freezes completely. - When I switch back to Thunderbird, the interface is often unresponsive for several minutes. - I often have to force-close the application through Windows because it becomes practically unusable. - Restarting Thunderbird temporarily restores normal performance, but the problem eventually returns, when it's left idle. - The issue occurs repeatedly throughout the day and makes it very difficult to use Thunderbird reliably.

Importantly, this is not simply slow startup performance. Thunderbird initially works perfectly, and the freezing develops after it has been running for a while, particularly when left in the background.

• • Version and environment**

- Operating system: Windows 11 Pro, 64-bit - Thunderbird version before the upgrade: 114 - Version initially upgraded to: 150 - Subsequently confirmed version: 156.0.1 (64-bit), on September 29, 2026 - Problem first appeared: September 2026 - Problem still present: October 22, 2026 - Current Thunderbird version: 158.0.1

• • Troubleshooting already performed**

1. **Global search indexing:** I noticed that Thunderbird's Activity Manager frequently displayed "Indexing messages." I suspected that indexing might be causing the problem.

2. **Disabled Global Search and Indexer (Gloda):** Unfortunately, this made no meaningful difference. Thunderbird continued freezing even with global indexing disabled.

3. **Multiple Thunderbird updates:** The application has been updated repeatedly since the initial upgrade, but the freezing has persisted.

4. **Restarting Thunderbird:** Temporarily resolves the problem, but only until Thunderbird has been running for some time.

• • Additional unusual behavior: Google OAuth authentication**

On at least two occasions, after force-closing an unresponsive Thunderbird process, Google Chrome unexpectedly opened a Google authorization page saying:

"Mozilla Thunderbird Email wants access to your Google Account."

The page also indicated that Thunderbird already had some access to the Google account.

After clicking "Continue," Chrome redirected to a localhost address (127.0.0.1 equivalent, using a dynamically assigned port), which failed with:

"ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED — localhost refused to connect."

I suspect this happens because Thunderbird is no longer running to receive the OAuth authorization callback.

I'm not sure whether the Google authorization issue is directly related to the freezes, but the repeated timing is suspicious and could indicate a background synchronization or authentication problem.

• • Impact**

I use Thunderbird extensively for professional correspondence and managing my translation business. These recurring freezes are seriously disrupting my workflow.

The problem has now persisted for over a month, despite updates and troubleshooting. It is becoming increasingly difficult to continue using Thunderbird in this condition.

• • What I would appreciate help investigating**

Could you please advise on how to identify the background process or operation that causes Thunderbird to become unresponsive after it has been running for several minutes?

In particular, I would appreciate guidance on:

- Whether this is a known regression affecting users who upgraded from much older Thunderbird versions. - Whether IMAP synchronization, background authentication, or Google OAuth activity could be responsible. - Whether there are diagnostic logs or performance profiles I can collect while Thunderbird is frozen. - Whether a particular database, profile component, or setting could be responsible without requiring me to rebuild my entire Thunderbird setup. - Whether there are known fixes or workarounds.

I'm happy to provide additional diagnostic information, screenshots, or logs if that would help identify the cause.

I would particularly appreciate a way to capture what Thunderbird is actually doing during these freezes, rather than continuing to try speculative troubleshooting steps.

I have several email accounts with 1&1 (Germany). Up until now, they have worked perfectly via Thunderbird. As of this morning, however, it no longer accepts any of my passwords. If I try logging in via the 1&1 webmail interface instead, everything works fine.

Hi there, I’ve spent many hours trying to find an answer. Perhaps it’s right under my nose, but I just can’t seem to find it. Please help!

I’ve created extra folders in Thunderbird to keep my messages organized. Question: How can I locate a specific folder?

Example: I create a folder named "a555". I CANNOT FIND THE FOLDER "a555".

(why did I choose "a555"? It’s a unique combination of letters and numbers, which ensures there are no unintended search results.)

Searching for a message does reveal the name of the folder it’s contained in, but that’s not what I’m looking for. I want to be able to search for the folder itself directly.

I have tried searching using: Global Search (top right) – Ctrl + K; Specific Search – Ctrl + Shift + F; This Thunderbird forum; A general search on the internet.

Can't seem to find what folder an email is in doing a search. The list of results doesn't show it and can't see it in the email. Maybe missing something. I sort emails by folders so not knowing the folder makes it hard to find what folder it is in (such as I may want to move that email).

In Thunderbird I selected all of the emails in a folder that is stored under the "Local Folders" section of my account right clicked then selected Organise/ Archive. All of the emails disappeared slowly and now I can not see any of them. There is no "Archive" folder under the "Local Folders" section in thunderbird , so I do not know how to recover these emails? Can you please advise. Thanks

Template message is saved in the same account the incoming email is sent to.

Hello: I recently migrated a large Thunderbird installation on a Linux laptop to my Windows 11 laptop(Thunderbird 15.0). I followed the directions to copy the profile folder and was very happy it seemed to work well. All the old emails are there and I can send/receive new emails. I am unable to see all images inline when viewing an email in the message pane. It seems this applies to some images with links. I've searched the community a few times and tried several options but it hasn't helped. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks.

I am trying to migrate from Microsoft Outlook 2021 to Mozilla Thunderbird. I have successfully imported the email from a number of different email accounts. I would now like to import the archived emails held in a number of PST files. The import tool would seem to be what is required, but it does not seem to allow me to select the PST files that I wish to import. I am concerned that it will try to import all email messages from my Outlook 2021. Is there a way of restricting it to just individual PST files?

i sometimes send email using gmail app on mobile devices. the gmail web application shows those sent messages with the gmail sent label. Those messages dont sync up in thunderbird on my windows pc, under the gmail smtp account using the same user name. email sent from thunderbird does show up in the gmail sent folder. How to get sent email synced up between devices?

Hello I have just set up Thunderbird successfully and I'm trying to fine tune it.

In "account settings>synchronization I checked to keep messages on this computer. I think I understand that that means all synchronized folders including inbox in TB will match up with the same on the server, headers and main text body. If I uncheck that setting while online, does that mean that all message bodies will immediately be deleted from my TB profile? or does it only apply to new downloads so that headers only are downloaded, until they are clicked on?

recently, e-mails have been hanging. I have determined that it is, for the most part at least, USPS mail tracking e-mails that hang. Once I delete or move to archive, things download fine.

This is not the daily Informed Delivery e-mail.

This is like "your package (tracking number nnnnn) has arrived at the distribution center. Expected delivery mm/dd/yyyy.

I have restarted, repaired in box, etc.

Any help?

I can not down load Emails from Yahoo to Thunderbird. Every things was fine as of Aug 26th. On Aug 27th with no changes to any system settings the Yahoo Emails would not down Load. I am running Win 10 on my system. I disabled the antivirus. Reloaded Thunderbird - no effect.

I have since deleted Thunderbird and then reinstalled  latest version of Thunderbird (154.0) .
I re-entered my password. I checked the OAuth2  settings and they are set as described in the support article "OAuth2 Authentication for Yahoo, AOL and ATT". 

Message bar at bottom of Thunderbird screen shows: Myaccountname@yahoo.com:Downloading message 1 of 7 The emails do not down load - then after a few minutes - a no messages to download message flashes and then blank - nothing

I am out of Ideas. Anyone?

Current official docs explains how to backup and move your profile, it assumes you only have one. I have multiple profiles which means about a 20GB backup but I only want to backup one specific profile (<2GB).

The backup is not for recovery but I need to keep a history records for a specific account which can be accessed through Thunderbird even if the original email account no longer exists.

To backup/copy its recommended to do it for this folder %APPDATA%\Thunderbird\Profiles\ (about 20 GB)

While all I need is %APPDATA\Thunderbird\Profiles\xxxxx.default-release\ImapMail\Important_stuff* (2 GB folder and .msf file)

Any better solutions than these?

1. Use a backup method that excludes specific folder and files in backup/copy of
2. Have a completely different installation of Thunderbird that only does the Important_stuff account (Thunderbird portable looks like it might do the job).

I suspect the first version will pick up a lot of unnecessary configuration and other stuff.

My email, in and out is not working.. I need my current Mozilla Thunderbird Primary Password. Then I could continue to use it OR select a new replacement for the current one. The release notes for TB 159.0 indicate that MS Exchange calendars are now automatically detected. I have tried deleting my old EWS MS Exchange email account, and adding it back in using the Graph option. Email is working just fine, but no calendar was detected. Can anyone offer some assistance? Much appreciated!

Following a Thunderbird update (I think it was 2 updates ago) it changed the behaviour of the description field in the new events window. I use thunderbird in a dark screen mode, and everything works perfectly, except when I try to type something into that description window. I'm now tying black (intead of white) on an almost black background. It's virtually impossible to see anything I'm trying to type. All the other fields are typing fine, white on black. If I open an entry on my calander now, it's fine, apart from that description field, which is also displaying text as black on black. It's also the same if I reopen the entry for editing. I had hoped the next update was going to correct this anomally, but it didn't. Is anyone aware of / reported this issue? Will it be fixed in the next update? Thank you for looking at this. Oh, nearly forgot, when I highlight the black on black text by clicking and dragging (prep for cut / copy & paste) the black text actually shows up as white text on a blue background whilst the field is 'live' moving onto something else, the text remains withe on a grey background. Hope this helps.
